Underthe Hammer by Mike Litherland of Outhwaite and Litherland TICK tock, tick tock, time"s running out for entering items for our Liverpool sale and this week, you"ve guessed it, we're looking at clocks, watches and longcase clocks. Here are just a few of the famous watch/clock makers of Liverpool.

The gold lever stopwatch by Russell & Son, pictured below, sold recently for pounds 1,100. Thomas Russell is listed as a watchmaker in 1848 at 20 Slater Street, Liverpool and later at 30 Slater Street. About 1859 he appears to have handed over control of the company to Thomas Robert Russell and Alfred Holgate Russell and the firm changed its name to Thomas Russell & Son. By 1877 the company moved premises to Church Street.
