I REFER to an article in the ECHO regarding the council leader Joe Anderson who was allegedly punched and kicked by protesters because of the pounds 30m cuts from the council budget.

The point that amused me was that all 75 councilors were present at the meeting. In view of the fact that police officers, firemen and many, many council workers have already lost their jobs due to cuts, how do the council justify 75 councillors? How many of these councillors will be losing their jobs? My main point is what is the cost to the taxpayer, if you include fees, wages, expenses? Are these 75 councillors really necessary, bearing in mind that most of them have other jobs as well.
