Summary
TRADING standards are calling for a ban on property cold calling and quite right too.
You know the kind -- so-called tradesmen who knock on your door to tell you your roof slates need replacing and having done the job charge you the cost of a small terrace house in Tuebrook for the privilege. These people prey on the elderly and vulnerable and are, to all intents and purposes, thieves -- any reputable builder simply doesn't need to go door knocking -- so I reckon a ban is a good idea. But it should be only the start. If I had my way I'd ban all cold calling, whether it's double glazing, new kitchens or those entreating me to change my gas supplier.See the full content of this document
