I DON'T know anyone whose stomach will not turn at the news that Jason Owen, convicted of 'causing or allowing' the death of Baby P has had his sentence reduced.

No-one, that is, except the Appeal Court judges who decided that Owen's original punishment - he was told he would be detained 'for an indeterminate period' - was too harsh and he should now serve just six years.
