GARSTON Docks owner Associated British Ports today agreed to a pounds 2.48bn approach by a foreign consortium, including American bankers Goldman Sachs.

The deal means the UK's biggest ports operator looks set to follow the British Airports Authority into foreign ownership after it backed a pounds 10.3bn takeover proposal from Spanish construction firm Ferrovial.
