Vote 2004: Poll On a Knife ; Sam Lister and Liam Murphy Canvass the Opinions of Voters in Wirral and Ellesmere Port in the Run-Up to the Local Elections

None of the groups hold overall control. Labour has 26 seats, the Conservatives 23,Lib Dems 16 and there is one independent councillor.

After last year's vote, the parties spent two weeks thrashing out how to divide the power between them and, after several lengthy meetings, agreed to split the cabinet positions -Labour's Steve Foulkes retaining his position as leader of the council....
