Summary
TED McMonnies' statement about the UK having the fourth strongest economy in the world, as quoted by Barry Ingham, should be questioned (ECHO Letters, June 14). It could be misleading if too much is made of it.
I suspect Ted was trotting out the usual data from a list of GNP per capita statistics. The calculation of this statistic probably took into account such wealth-creating activities as body piercing and the shuffling of paper in public sector offices. Next year's figure will probably take into account the effort which went into the design of the Olympic logo.See the full content of this document
