I MUST reply to the letter from M. R. Glyn regarding plans for Whiston hospital (ECHO, Sept 11) and wonder whether he has been an inpatient recently.

I have a close relative who has been an inpatient in Whiston hospital for the last 12 days and is expected to stay in for some time. The one thing he has been desperate for, and indeed would have gladly paid for, is a single room. He has had little sleep due to the comings and goings of a busy ward.
