HALF of all children whose homes are in and around Liverpool city centre are living in poverty, a study revealed today. Youngsters in Liverpool's Riverside ward are the second most underprivileged in the country, with 49.7% living under the poverty level - double the national average.

The city fared worse than London boroughs in the study - and was second only toManchester Central.
