A DRUG smuggler claimed he had no reason to plant expensive ecstasy tablets to fool Customs when he could have bought deadly weapons at a fraction of the price.

On his last day of questioning over conspiracy charges, Paul Bennett was grilled about 7,500 tablets with a street value of between pounds 60,000 and pounds 100,000 seized in Liverpool in 1994.
