AT 1.25 am on June 7, 1931, windows of houses in Anfield were shattered by a tremendous force. At that same moment a car being driven along Brook Street in Chester was swung around and crashed into a lamp-post.
Meanwhile, at Fairfield Crescent, Newsham, houses were rocked and people thrown out of their beds.
