A MIDWIFE who has helped bring more than 40,000 locals into the world is the Queen's new representative on Merseyside.

Dame Lorna Muirhead, from south Liverpool, was yesterday made the region's first female Lord Lieutenant and announced her first aim was to bring the Queen to the city to launch the 2008 celebrations.
