Summary
ITS composer filed it under 'opera buffa', and it's true there are moments of laugh-out-loud humour in Don Giovanni. But there are also dark forces at work - this is an tale, after all, that begins with a sexual assault and murder and concludes with its (anti)hero's descent into the fiery depths of hell.
