THIRTY-ONE concerts, a family fun day and four workshops crammed into 21 days in November. Yes, it's time for the 17th Wirral International Guitar Festival of Great Britain The festival's "international" tag is well-earned, but one of the most ambitious events this year actually features a host of local artists, led by virtuoso guitar player Gary Murphy and keyboard wizard Paul Brooks . It's a rare, live musical version of Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds, recently re-released in expensive multi-album form to great acclaim.
The stage show of the HG Wells classic at New Brighton's Floral Pavilion on Thursday, November 17, also features strings from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Liverpool comedian Pauline Daniels, Phil Jones from Up And Running and, taking the original Richard Burton role as narrator, Radio Merseyside's Roger Phillips.See the full content of this document
