USSELL Tovey walks off the set of Him & Her giggling like a naughty schoolboy. "We were doing a scene in the bathroom this morning," he grins. "It was same one we were meant to complete last night but we couldn't because we couldn't stop laughing. So they sent us home."

And the Mystery Is ... Just What's It Supposed to Be?

WHAT the hell was all that about, then? I'm still trying to work it out (Death In Paradise, BBC1, Tuesday). Is this new eight-parter supposed to be a crime drama with elements of comedy? No, it can't be.

There Are Still More Questions [ ... ]

THERE are still more questions than answers - which is a little inconvenient because the series has finished now (Hidden, BBC1, Thursday). Philip Glenister's character, Harry Venn, ended up behind bars - where he deserved to be 20 years ago, so it was a neat ending in that respect.

Goodbye Spooks (Bbc1, Sunday), Goodbye [ ... ]

GOODBYE Spooks (BBC1, Sunday), goodbye Harry Pearce. But at least he was still standing after appearing in 10 series - that's some achievement.

So Young, and so Much to Learn

GOD bless you James McCullagh, you've got the part! (Young Apprentice, BBC1, Monday). It doesn't matter if it's the junior version or the (allegedly) grown-up version, there's always got to be at least one figure of fun - a candidate who thinks he or she is the best business brain on the planet when, really, he or she is just very silly indeed.

What's Coming Up ... Next Week's Tv

WRITER Ronan Bennett's four-parter Hidden has just finished its - pretty entertaining, if confusing - run on BBC1. And now Bennett has another high-profile four-parter for us, this time being shown over consecutive nights.

Films of the Week

Today: Halloween (BBC Two, 12.25am) What's It About? On October 31, disturbed 10-year-old Michael Myers carries out a spate of killings. He is found guilty of first degree murder and committed to a sanatorium under the care of psychologist Dr Sam Loomis. Fifteen years later, Michael breaks out and embarks on another grisly killing spree. Is It Any Good? It's a classic. John Carpenter's direction keeps viewers on the edge of their seats and provided a template that spawned a string of sequels.

Invites

WHEN most of us get a spot, we probably dab it with concealer and hope for the best, but not Tamara Ecclestone. When the 27-year-old gets a pimple, she speed dials the country's top dermatologist and gets the blighter injected to submission. She also requests dresses are flown out to her on holiday, flies by private jet and has a Birkin bag collection (average price pounds 4,200) that would make Victoria Beckham see green.

Soap Suds

EASTENDERS (BBC ONE) IT'S Yasmin's first birthday party and Yusef has arranged a couple of surprises. First, he invites Qadim to come along and threaten to disown Amira for consorting with the Masoods, then as an extra treat, he gives Christian the results of the paternity test which appear to prove that Syed isn't the birthday girl's dad.

Joe's Fitting in Just Right!

JOE GILGUN is possibly the only actor who could join Misfits after the departure of its lead actor Robert Sheehan. Irishman Robert stole hearts as joker Nathan in the Bafta- winning show about teens with superpowers and, although it was inevitable his star would rise, his departure still came as a shock. But while Robert's off pursuing new projects, Joe, 27, has stepped into the young offender orange jumpsuit to play Misfits' new recruit Rudy.

Agents' Liverpool Choice

West Derby, pounds 110,000 THIS is a tastefully presented three bedroom mid town house located in a desirable residential location. The property has modern conveniences which include double glazed windows and central heating system, and briefly comprises an entrance hall, lounge, dining kitchen, conservatory, three bedrooms and bathroom/wc.

Scheme Is Case of Firstbuy First Served

A LEADING new homes developer is urging first-time buyers to take advantage of a government scheme to help them on to the housing ladder - before it's too late. Seddon Homes says the pounds 180m FirstBuy scheme represents a golden opportunity for anyone struggling to save up for a deposit to realise their dream of home ownership.
