Cops Rap Council Man in Election Law Breach ; Verbal Warning Over Letter Sent to Residents
A CONTROVERSIAL Wirral councillor was given a "verbal warning" by Merseyside Police after distributing a leaflet breaking election laws. Conservative Cllr Denis Knowles - who was last month suspended after making an alleged homophobic remark on Facebook - confirmed he was warned by a deputy chief constable this week not to distribute any more of the leaflets.
MAGHULL Developments has secured six lettings at the Hahnemann Building, in Liverpool's Hope Street. The company acquired the building, part of a portfolio of properties, from the University of Liverpool in 2007.
Retailer to Move Into Speke Site
ONE of the UK's largest discount retailers has secured pounds 10.85m of bank finance to buy its new headquarters in Speke in Liverpool. B&M Retail is moving its base from Blackpool to a 618,000 sq ft industrial unit known as The Vault at the Liverpool International Business Park.
NATIONAL Lottery operator Camelot has taken a 5,018 sq ft commercial unit at Tiger Court in King's Business Park, in Knowsley. Joint agents Keppie Massie and Knight Frank, working on behalf of developer Marshall CDP, agreed a 10-year lease with Camelot on unit 12.
'I Stabbed Jamie Four, Five Times' ; Accused Tells Court It Was Self Defence
A MAN accused of murdering a teenager in a fight demonstrated to a court how he slashed him with a knife. Peter Hollywood, 33, admitted to the Liverpool crown court jury he had stabbed Jamie Kelly, 18, in the legs and bottom.
Shopkeeper Fought Off Knife Thug
A SHOPKEEPER disarmed a knife thug who attempted to rob his off licence. Ravi Kanagasurayam, who took over Liquor Seller, in Marsh Lane, Bootle, two months ago, was confronted by the thug who burst in at around 8.10pm on Sunday April 4. The masked man flashed the blade and shouted "give me the money" before the trader snatched the knife from his hand and chased him from his shop.

Teacher: Sex Trial Put Me Through Living Hell ; Call for Teenaccuser to Be Named
A TRAINEE teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old pupil from a top Merseyside school today called for her accuser to be named. Hannah McIntyre, 25, was cleared of having sex with a sixth-form pupil at Merchant Taylors' boys school, in Crosby, after jurors at Liverpool crown court took just 75 minutes to dismiss the pupil's claims.
ARTISTS will be able to research their club's history thanks to a lottery windfall. Art Club St Helens received pounds 32,400 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to carry out the project.
